News:
Is
startup always this way?
By Amy Reshefsky, CEO [RETIRED]*
*
We thank our former CEO and Co-Founder Amy Reshefsky
for her inspiration and
continuing support.
It's
been another one of those mentally frustrating days. The mind wanders and
wonders at the same time. A voice in your head says, "The rise and the
risk, the progression and the dip is all about start up. Do I really
believe that the mental stress with the adrenaline flowing is an even trade
off?"
I take the time to evaluate why and how we started this company and what we have
become. In a matter of a few, but educational and growth related months
the creativity of two individuals operating on the same virtual page is not only
scary, it is magical. The fact that we can see the model play out in time
offers us a sense of something worth more then meets the eye. The unique
structure of the company takes on a life all its own
What does my mind say to that?
So many questions and yes, they all seem to flow in one direction, with one
answer. Keep on going, play out the path of notoriety. And if the path of
accomplishments do not go as planned keep in mind the steps of achievement
will be a gift making room for the next plateau.
A bug was planted in my ear. It has happened often, especially when
focused on another subject. You know how that goes. Most people are
facing another individual listening to them go on about something and at the
same time their facial muscles are perfectly attentive while really in some far
off land contemplating the next move. In my case, something happens and I
don't see it until it's dislodged from my mouth, with a recipient present of
course.
Do I characterize my mind as an incubator for inspiration? Coming from a long
play of years of building up my stamina to be able to focus, feel enough
strength to be my own person and find the confidence that we all shy from, was a
major accomplishment in itself.
I do owe my good fortitude to the mere fact that such a tool was given to me.
I took it and wrapped it tightly around me. The computer was just that
when I sat down that first day and it then became the entrance to my mind, my
heart and some extraordinary part of my life.
It took me to a place where few were able to go. The opportunity to create,
develop and orchestrate a special interest group of experts in one of the most
inventive situations of our time, the virtual passage. None of my peers,
especially in the beginning, could fathom the fact that the world would be so
supportive and ready to accept more content, more information and a better way
to communicate by brining so many individuals together.
In my first article I had a lot of questions and in passing I mentioned to a
friend that I had written something along the lines of how I felt about my
company startup. "Solid questioning from a literate, inquisitive
mind," was the reaction. "You think?" His response,
"I know." Guess my questions are being answered.
